Welcome to the oldest war.
The Word — the living power
by which Heaven speaks a thing into being
The in-between — the threshold where
the worldly and the unseen touch
We have stood in that space for two thousand years. It is narrower than you would like, and wider than you would believe. We keep no notes. We are the notes.
Two hundred came down before the Flood, and the war they started never ended.
They lost, and they never left.
They stopped making giants. They started making sons.
They did not take your cities. They took your fathers, and let the cities follow.
The war is in your governments. It is in your corporations. It is in the systems that outlive the men who build them. You have been governed by it for longer than you have had a written language.
There is a Marine who has hidden the way his mind works since he was a boy. Two ancient powers prepared him for the same war. Only one of them told him the truth.
Modern weapons. Ancient tactics. Angels nothing like the paintings.
He is not equipped for the truths to come.
Neither are you.
Two corridors meet at one sealed door.
From the left: a Marine. A folder of orders in his hand. He has read them four times. They are flawless. They are forged.
From the right, at the same instant: a second Marine. A woman. Same folder. Same false seal. Same belief.
They have never met.
The Memra Metaxis
Created, written, and showrun by J.D. Bruden. We have been waiting on someone to write it down correctly. She did.
- I Format
- I HourScripted and serialized, built to return. Every hour closes on a choice the room will still be arguing about at midnight.
- II Written
- Seasons I & IISixteen episodes, edited and mastered. Sixteen hours that already exist, written before anyone was asked to believe in them.
- III Mapped
- Seasons III & IVTwo more set down inside the bible, ready to be written.
- IV Plotted
- Seasons V–VIIIArcs plotted through to series completion. Nothing here is being improvised.
- V Setting
- Earth. MMXXVII.Beneath the agencies and the redacted files. Monastery libraries that admit to nothing. Black sites with no country and no name. A chapel above a car park, a server floor under a mountain, and a stairwell somewhere that goes down further than the plans allow. The war is fought in the buildings you drive past.
It is finished, and it has been finished for some time.
Not a pitch hoping to become a show. A built, protected, wholly-owned franchise, written without an audience and without a deadline — the slower way, and the only way we have seen a world survive its own first season. We have watched a good many worlds go up quickly. We have watched most of them come down the same way.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.Ephesians 6:12
A universe of doors.
A door is not the room. Behind each of these is a century, a city, and a set of people who had to decide something. MEMRA holds the rights, the continuity, and the creative authority for all of them. One canon feeds them all, and the canon does not bend for a good idea — there have been good ideas. That is precisely why it will outlast the people arguing about it.
You are already in it.
That was settled long ago.
We have stood at both of these a long while. One we hold open, because the watch has never once been kept by the qualified. The other stays shut, and the key is given by request, to those with the standing to ask.
The Watch
Open to anyone. Almost nobody asks.
No credential is asked for and none is needed. You are written down and given a number. It is yours, it does not expire, and no one else will ever carry it. You speak at the fire under it, and what you say is read by a person before it is shown.
It costs nothing. It is not a mailing list. We have never sold a name and we are not going to start.
The Vault
Restricted to agencies, studios, streamers, financiers and production partners.
Sixteen scripts, the Universe Canon Bible, the reader deck, the whole Record. Requests from outside those rooms are not taken. It opens under an agreement signed by both hands, and not one page before.
We handed something precious to the wrong pair of hands once. It is not an error one makes twice.
Heaven has never sent the chosen.
Only the willing.
We have kept this a long while, and we have watched a great many people walk past it. We would rather you did not.
